One of the most common questions we get is how MTN MoMo payment actually works on PrimeTech. The short answer: it's simple, secure, and you never need to type your PIN into your laptop or phone browser — you confirm the payment directly on your phone. Here's the full walkthrough.
Step 1: Add Items to Your Cart and Proceed to Checkout
Browse PrimeTech Rwanda, add the items you want to your cart, and click through to checkout when you're ready.
Step 2: Enter Your Delivery Details
At checkout, you'll enter your first and last name, a contact phone number, your city, and your street address — this is where your order will be delivered.
Step 3: Select MTN Mobile Money as Your Payment Method
On the payment screen, choose MTN Mobile Money and enter the phone number registered to your MoMo account. This can be different from your delivery contact number if needed.
Step 4: Click "Pay" — A USSD Prompt Is Sent to Your Phone
Once you click Pay, PrimeTech sends a payment request directly to your phone — you do not need to dial any USSD code manually. Within moments, you'll see a prompt appear on your phone asking you to confirm the payment.
Step 5: Enter Your MTN MoMo PIN on Your Phone
Enter your MoMo PIN directly on your phone to authorize the payment. You never enter your PIN on the website — this keeps your PIN secure and only ever entered on your own device.
Step 6: Wait for Confirmation
While you wait, you'll see a countdown timer on the PrimeTech checkout page with the message "Check your phone", reminding you to complete the payment on your device. The system checks the payment status automatically — you don't need to refresh the page.
Step 7: Order Confirmed
Once your payment is confirmed, you'll be taken to an order success page. That's it — your order is placed.
If Something Goes Wrong
If the payment times out or fails — for example, if you don't confirm on your phone in time — you can simply retry the payment. If you continue to have trouble, you can always fall back to ordering via WhatsApp, where our team can help you complete your purchase directly.
Why This Matters for Security
Because the PIN entry happens on your phone through MTN's own system — not on the PrimeTech website — your MoMo PIN is never exposed to or stored by PrimeTech. This is the same security model used by MTN MoMo payments across other reputable platforms in Rwanda.
