What to expect at each price: under RWF 10,000 gets a functional wired mouse. RWF 13,000–15,000 gets a wireless mouse with reliable tracking. Above RWF 15,000 buys silent switches or rechargeable batteries.

Headsets — RWF 20,000 – 135,000
What to expect: budget earbuds around RWF 20,000–35,000 are fine for music, not for calls. A proper USB headset with a noise-cancelling microphone starts around RWF 58,000, and the professional-grade options run to RWF 135,000.

Docks, hubs and cables — RWF 13,000 – 40,000
What to expect: a basic USB-C hub around RWF 24,000 adds HDMI, USB ports and card readers. A full multi-port dock around RWF 34,000–36,000 turns one cable into a complete desk connection.
Our advice: if you use an external monitor, a dock pays for itself in saved time and reduced wear on your laptop's ports. Modern business laptops have fewer ports than they used to, which makes this close to essential rather than optional. Docks and stands guide.
Laptop stands — RWF 15,000 – 45,000
What to expect: a portable folding stand around RWF 19,000–20,000 raises your screen to eye level. A metal stand with cooling fans runs around RWF 35,000.
Our advice: the highest value-per-franc accessory on this entire page. Working with your neck bent downward for hours causes real, cumulative strain. A RWF 20,000 stand fixes it permanently. Buy one before you buy anything else here.
Speakers and audio — RWF 20,000 – 250,000
What to expect: portable Bluetooth speakers span a very wide range. The premium end is dominated by JBL.

Our advice: a power bank is genuinely useful in Rwanda given power interruptions, but check the capacity honestly — most phone power banks will not charge a laptop. For laptop charging you need USB-C Power Delivery specifically.
What Is Actually Worth Buying
Ranked by improvement per franc spent:
1. Laptop stand — around RWF 20,000. Fixes posture permanently. Nothing else on this page delivers as much for as little.
2. Wireless mouse — around RWF 15,000. Faster and more comfortable than any trackpad for sustained work.
3. USB-C hub or dock — RWF 24,000–36,000. Essential if you use an external monitor; very convenient otherwise.
4. Headset with a noise-cancelling microphone — RWF 58,000+. Essential if you are on calls daily; unnecessary if you are not.
5. Spare charger. The most commonly lost and damaged accessory. A spare kept at the office or at home removes an entire category of bad day.
A complete, genuinely useful kit costs about RWF 60,000–80,000. Spending more than that on accessories usually means buying things you will not use.
What to Be Careful With
Very cheap chargers. A poor-quality laptop charger can damage a battery or a mainboard — an expensive way to save RWF 10,000. Buy chargers matched to your machine.
"Universal" laptop chargers. These often deliver the wrong voltage under load. Dell laptops in particular authenticate their adapters and will refuse to charge properly from a non-genuine one.
Unbranded power banks with implausible capacity claims. A power bank claiming 50,000mAh at RWF 15,000 is not what it says it is.
Cheap HDMI and USB-C cables. Cables carrying video are where quality genuinely matters. A failing cable produces intermittent problems that are frustrating to diagnose.
Buying Accessories With a Laptop
If you are buying a laptop, plan roughly RWF 50,000–80,000 on top for a stand, a mouse, and a hub. That combination transforms daily use far more than upgrading the laptop itself by the same amount.
Concretely: buying a RWF 390,000 laptop plus RWF 70,000 of accessories is a materially better setup than buying a RWF 465,000 laptop with nothing around it.
